If you’re applying for permanent residency in the US, you’ll need a medical exam completed by a USCIS-designated Civil Surgeon as part of the green card application process.
If you’re unsure whether you need an immigration physical, our team can help you confirm before your appointment.
Our Civil Surgeon provides your immigration physical exams in a calm, supportive clinical setting.
We then document the exam on Form I-693 to help confirm you meet US health requirements for lawful permanent residency.
What Happens During the Immigration Physical Exam?
Your immigration physical at Stella may include:
- A review of your medical history
- A general physical examination to check your health, including height, weight, blood pressure, heart and lung, eyes, etc
- Tests for communicable diseases such as tuberculosis, syphilis, and gonorrhea
- A mental health/well-being assessment
- Required vaccinations – or proof of prior immunizations – including measles, mumps, rubella (German measles), TDAP, varicella (chickenpox), tetanus, polio, flu
The exam follows federal requirements, but we aim to make your experience straightforward and respectful.
What to Bring to Your Immigration Physical Appointment
To help your visit go smoothly, please bring:
- A valid, government-issued photo ID
- Any health records you have such as X-rays or notes on a medical condition
- Any vaccination records you have
- Your USCIS paperwork (if already received)
- Payment for the exam and any required tests

After Your Exam
Once your immigration physical is complete, we prepare your Form I-693 according to USCIS instructions and give you the form in a sealed envelope for submission.
This form has to remain sealed – so please don’t open it or alter the envelope.
In some cases, results may take a short time to finalize before the form is issued.
